Segons la composici\u00f3 de la fase cont\u00ednua i la fase dispersa, es poden obtenir emulsions d\u2019oli en aigua o d\u2019aigua en oli. L\u2019addici\u00f3 d\u2019un tensioactiu \u00e9s essencial per estabilitzar totes les emulsions, ja que redueix la tensi\u00f3 interfacial entre tots dos l\u00edquids. A m\u00e9s, es poden utilitzar altres additius per augmentar aquesta estabilitat.<\/p>\n<p>Les emulsions de cera ofereixen una manera efica\u00e7 d\u2019incorporar cera en un producte, ja que s\u2019integren f\u00e0cilment en formulacions de recobriments i pintures a base d\u2019aigua mitjan\u00e7ant una simple barreja, gr\u00e0cies a la seva forma l\u00edquida. Les ceres s\u00f3n additius comuns que influeixen de manera significativa en les propietats superficials de qualsevol recobriment, millorant i protegint la seva aparen\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<p>A causa de la seva estructura qu\u00edmica, les ceres confereixen una millora notable en la resist\u00e8ncia a l\u2019aigua. Com indica el seu nom, aquesta propietat protegeix una superf\u00edcie contra la penetraci\u00f3 de l\u2019aigua, que pot causar problemes de floridura (insalubres i poc atractius) i fins i tot danys estructurals irreversibles.<\/p>\n<p>Les ceres de parafina ofereixen sovint un rendiment excel\u00b7lent, especialment en superf\u00edcies poroses, ja que estan compostes principalment per cadenes d\u2019alcans lineals i presenten una bona estructura cristal\u00b7lina, proporcionant aix\u00ed excel\u00b7lents efectes de barrera contra l\u2019aigua.<\/p>\n<p>La gamma d\u2019emulsions de cera EMULTROL inclou una varietat de ceres com parafina, polietil\u00e8, lignit, carnauba, entre d&#8217;altres. Combinades amb diferents emulsionants, aquestes ceres cobreixen la majoria de les necessitats dels nostres clients. Entre elles, destaquen els productes EMULTROL CM-2469 SPL i CM-2655 E com els candidats m\u00e9s efectius per millorar la resist\u00e8ncia a l\u2019aigua de les pintures a base d\u2019aigua. L\u2019angle de contacte d\u2019una gota d\u2019aigua \u00e9s un indicador clau de la modificaci\u00f3 de superf\u00edcie, revelant si aquesta ha estat dissenyada per complir funcions espec\u00edfiques a trav\u00e9s de l\u2019addici\u00f3 de recobriments.<\/p>\n<p>Una gota que es mant\u00e9 rodona, amb un angle de contacte elevat (vegeu Figura 2, esquerra), indica una superf\u00edcie hidrof\u00f2bica o repel\u00b7lent a l\u2019aigua. Posteriorment, es va col\u00b7locar amb cura una gota d\u2019aigua sobre aquesta capa per observar-ne la forma.<\/p>\n<p>Per demostrar els avantatges d\u2019utilitzar emulsions de cera com a additius en pintures, es va afegir un 2% i un 3% de cada emulsi\u00f3 a dues resines comercials diferents, una estir\u00e8-acr\u00edlica i una altra acr\u00edlica, totes dues utilitzades en pintures i recobriments. Les caracter\u00edstiques d\u2019aquestes resines es mostren a la Taula 2. No obstant aix\u00f2, amb el recobriment adequat es pot obtenir una superf\u00edcie hidrof\u00f2bica. A la Figura 3, s\u2019observa el comportament de les gotes d\u2019aigua sobre el paper recobert. Aquest efecte \u00e9s m\u00e9s accentuat amb la resina 2 (b), on es percep una forma m\u00e9s arrodonida de la gota d\u2019aigua. Estan formulades amb sistemes emulsionants diferents que augmenten la compatibilitat amb les resines aquoses comunes. El principal avantatge d\u2019aquestes emulsions de cera en recobriments base aigua \u00e9s l\u2019augment de la hidrofobicitat de la pel\u00b7l\u00edcula.
