Introduction<\/h3>\n<p>Le terme \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9mulsion de cire\u00a0\u00bb peut \u00eatre quelque peu trompeur, car il s&rsquo;agit en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une dispersion de particules solides de cire dans une phase continue d&rsquo;eau. Une \u00e9mulsion proprement dite (d\u00e9finie comme un m\u00e9lange de deux liquides non miscibles) n&rsquo;existe que lorsque la cire est en phase fondue, au moment o\u00f9 l&rsquo;\u00e9mulsion se forme \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature. Comme mentionn\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment, une \u00e9mulsion de cire doit \u00eatre stabilis\u00e9e, soit par des \u00e9mulsifiants non ioniques (m\u00e9canisme st\u00e9rique), des \u00e9mulsifiants ioniques (m\u00e9canisme \u00e9lectrostatique), ou une combinaison des deux types afin de profiter des deux m\u00e9canismes de stabilisation. D&rsquo;autres ingr\u00e9dients, tels que des \u00e9lectrolytes, des \u00e9paississants ou des conservateurs, peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre ajout\u00e9s pour aider \u00e0 stabiliser la dispersion.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9mulsions de cire sont largement utilis\u00e9es comme additifs dans de nombreuses applications industrielles. Elles permettent de contr\u00f4ler la processabilit\u00e9 des produits ou d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s des rev\u00eatements utilis\u00e9s pour prot\u00e9ger les surfaces contre l&rsquo;abrasion ou l&rsquo;humidit\u00e9. Les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s fondamentales des cires proviennent de leur composition chimique, de leur point de fusion et de leur polarit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>La taille des particules de cire dans les \u00e9mulsions est un facteur crucial \u00e0 prendre en compte lors du d\u00e9veloppement d&rsquo;une \u00e9mulsion pour un objectif sp\u00e9cifique. Pour modifier les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s tactiles, il est essentiel que les particules de cire \u00e9mergent \u00e0 travers la couche de rev\u00eatement, ce qui n\u00e9cessite une taille de particule sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur du film. Cependant, des particules trop grosses peuvent entra\u00eener des d\u00e9fauts dans le film ou des \u00e9checs du produit. En revanche, une taille de particule tr\u00e8s fine assure une incorporation homog\u00e8ne dans la formulation, maximisant les effets souhait\u00e9s et \u00e9vitant les d\u00e9fauts du film. De plus, cela permet de conserver des finitions tr\u00e8s brillantes.<\/p>\n<p>Concentrol offre des solutions sp\u00e9cifiques \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes d\u00e9finis gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son expertise dans la production d\u2019\u00e9mulsions de cire. La taille des particules peut \u00eatre contr\u00f4l\u00e9e pendant le processus d\u2019\u00e9mulsification afin de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 des sp\u00e9cifications pr\u00e9cises. Le cas pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ci-dessous est un bon exemple de r\u00e9glage de la taille des particules dans une \u00e9mulsion de cire \u00e0 base de poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<h3><b>2. <\/b><b>Proc\u00e9dure d\u2019\u00e9mulsification<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Pour d\u00e9montrer le concept, nous avons utilis\u00e9 la formulation EMULTROL EPH, une \u00e9mulsion de cire de poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne non ionique\/anionique \u00e0 base d&rsquo;eau. En raison de son point de fusion \u00e9lev\u00e9, la cire ne peut \u00eatre \u00e9mulsionn\u00e9e que sous pression dans un syst\u00e8me ferm\u00e9. De plus, nous avons utilis\u00e9 la technique d\u2019\u00e9mulsification indirecte, car elle permet d\u2019obtenir des \u00e9mulsions de haute qualit\u00e9 avec une grande constance. Cette technique d\u2019\u00e9mulsification par dilution sous pression consiste \u00e0 cr\u00e9er initialement une \u00e9mulsion de cire et de tensioactif \u00e0 haute concentration en solides, en retenant une partie de l\u2019eau. Cela permet une meilleure formation de micelles plus homog\u00e8ne. Cependant, cela n\u00e9cessite l&rsquo;utilisation de deux r\u00e9cipients sous pression pour la fabrication.<\/p>\n<p>La proc\u00e9dure suivie est la suivante : la cire de poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne a \u00e9t\u00e9 charg\u00e9e dans un r\u00e9acteur autoclave avec l\u2019\u00e9mulsifiant non ionique, un alcali, du disulfate de sodium et une partie de l\u2019eau \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante. L\u2019autoclave a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 ferm\u00e9 et chauff\u00e9 \u00e0 125-135 \u00b0C tout en agitant, et la temp\u00e9rature a \u00e9t\u00e9 maintenue pendant 30 minutes. La deuxi\u00e8me partie de l\u2019eau, pr\u00e9alablement chauff\u00e9e \u00e0 100 \u00b0C, a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 inject\u00e9e sous pression. \u00c0 ce stade, le refroidissement jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la temp\u00e9rature ambiante a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 aussi rapidement que possible (refroidissement par choc) pour garantir les meilleurs r\u00e9sultats. Un conservateur doit \u00eatre ajout\u00e9 pour prolonger la dur\u00e9e de conservation de l\u2019\u00e9mulsion.<\/p>\n<h3><b>3. <\/b><b>R\u00e9sultats<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Le type et la concentration du tensioactif sont des aspects critiques \u00e0 consid\u00e9rer pour la taille et la stabilit\u00e9 des gouttelettes de cire dans la phase continue (eau). Sur la Figure 1, nous pouvons distinguer les diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9mulsions d\u2019EMULTROL EPH obtenues en variant la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9mulsifiant. Le m\u00eame tensioactif a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 dans toutes les \u00e9mulsions, mais sa concentration a \u00e9t\u00e9 progressivement r\u00e9duite de l\u2019\u00e9chantillon A \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chantillon C.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Figure 1<\/strong> &#8211; EMULTROL EPH avec diff\u00e9rentes tailles de particules<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-160070 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/concentrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Captura-de-pantalla-2024-10-17-a-las-9.50.49.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"379\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Captura-de-pantalla-2024-10-17-a-las-9.50.49.png 498w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Captura-de-pantalla-2024-10-17-a-las-9.50.49-300x277.png 300w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Captura-de-pantalla-2024-10-17-a-las-9.50.49-350x323.png 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 379px) 100vw, 379px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Comme mentionn\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment, les \u00e9mulsions contiennent \u00e0 la fois une phase dispers\u00e9e et une phase continue, avec une interface qui les s\u00e9pare. Les \u00e9mulsions apparaissent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement troubles ou blanches, car la lumi\u00e8re est dispers\u00e9e aux interfaces des composants du m\u00e9lange. Cependant, les micro\u00e9mulsions et nano\u00e9mulsions, ayant une taille de gouttelettes inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 100 nm, sont translucides. Cela est d\u00fb au fait que les ondes lumineuses ne sont dispers\u00e9es par les gouttelettes que si leur taille d\u00e9passe environ un quart de la longueur d&rsquo;onde de la lumi\u00e8re incidente. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que le spectre visible de la lumi\u00e8re se situe entre 390 et 750 nm, si la taille des gouttelettes est inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 100 nm, la lumi\u00e8re peut traverser l\u2019\u00e9mulsion sans \u00eatre dispers\u00e9e. Cette particularit\u00e9 est bien visible dans l\u2019\u00e9mulsion A de la Figure 1 et est \u00e9galement corrobor\u00e9e par la mesure de la taille des particules de l\u2019\u00e9mulsion pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 la Figure 2.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Figure 2<\/strong> &#8211; Mesures de la taille des particules des \u00e9mulsions A, B et C respectivement<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-160100 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/concentrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-2.png 624w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-2-300x116.png 300w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-2-350x135.png 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>De plus, lorsqu&rsquo;une \u00e9mulsion est dilu\u00e9e, la lumi\u00e8re bleue de courte longueur d&rsquo;onde est davantage dispers\u00e9e, ce qui donne \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9mulsion une apparence plus bleut\u00e9e. Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est connu sous le nom d\u2019\u00a0\u00bbEffet Tyndall\u00a0\u00bb. En revanche, si l\u2019\u00e9mulsion est suffisamment concentr\u00e9e, la lumi\u00e8re est d\u00e9form\u00e9e vers des longueurs d&rsquo;onde plus longues, et elle appara\u00eet plus jaune. Cette particularit\u00e9 peut \u00eatre observ\u00e9e sur la Figure 3, o\u00f9 les \u00e9mulsions A et B ont \u00e9t\u00e9 dilu\u00e9es \u00e0 10 % de leur concentration initiale dans de l&rsquo;eau d\u00e9ionis\u00e9e (A\u2019 et B\u2019, respectivement).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Figure 3<\/strong> &#8211; Apparence des \u00e9mulsions originales A et B et de leurs dilutions \u00e0 10 %, A\u2019 et B\u2019<\/p>\n<h3><b><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-160094 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/concentrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"788\" height=\"481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-3.png 1360w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-3-300x183.png 300w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-3-1024x626.png 1024w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-3-768x469.png 768w, https:\/\/hosting175685eu-cp704.wordpresstemporal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Figura-3-350x214.png 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 788px) 100vw, 788px\" \/><\/b><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><b>4. <\/b><b>Avantages du contr\u00f4le de la taille des particules<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Les \u00e9mulsions sont intrins\u00e8quement instables et n\u00e9cessitent un apport \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique pour se former. Avec le temps, elles ont tendance \u00e0 revenir \u00e0 un \u00e9tat stable, ce qui conduit \u00e0 la s\u00e9paration des phases. C\u2019est pourquoi des \u00e9mulsifiants sont utilis\u00e9s pour r\u00e9duire la tension interfaciale et stabiliser l\u2019\u00e9mulsion. Les micro\u00e9mulsions sont thermodynamiquement stables, tandis que les nano\u00e9mulsions translucides sont cin\u00e9tiquement stables.<\/p>\n<p>Dans les syst\u00e8mes de vernis et de peinture, les particules de cire forment un r\u00e9seau qui r\u00e9duit la s\u00e9dimentation des agents matifiants (anti-brillance), am\u00e9liorant ainsi leur effet. La taille des particules de cire affecte \u00e9galement le niveau de brillance du rev\u00eatement.<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, une taille de particule trop fine peut entra\u00eener une baisse d\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de la cire en tant qu&rsquo;additif de rev\u00eatement. Pour que la cire soit efficace, les particules doivent d\u00e9passer la surface du rev\u00eatement. Les particules plus petites sont moins susceptibles de le faire, surtout dans les rev\u00eatements pigment\u00e9s. Dans les applications o\u00f9 la perm\u00e9abilit\u00e9 ou la transparence sont des facteurs importants (comme dans les finitions de fibres et les applications de polissage), une \u00e9mulsion avec des particules tr\u00e8s petites peut \u00eatre souhaitable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>5. Conclusions\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Le choix de l\u2019\u00e9mulsifiant est essentiel dans la formulation des \u00e9mulsions, car il joue un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois dans la formation et la stabilisation de l\u2019\u00e9mulsion. La s\u00e9lection de l\u2019\u00e9mulsifiant d\u00e9pend des caract\u00e9ristiques du produit final, de la m\u00e9thode de pr\u00e9paration de l\u2019\u00e9mulsion, des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s chimiques et physiques de chaque phase, ainsi que de la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019autres composants fonctionnels dans le m\u00e9lange.<\/p>\n<p>Une fois l\u2019\u00e9mulsifiant choisi, sa concentration influence fortement toutes les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00e9mulsion, telles que la stabilit\u00e9, la distribution de la taille des gouttelettes, la tension superficielle et interfaciale, la capacit\u00e9 de mouillage, la viscosit\u00e9, etc. Dans cet article, nous avons d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la concentration d\u2019\u00e9mulsifiant est fortement li\u00e9e \u00e0 la taille des particules de l\u2019\u00e9mulsion. Son efficacit\u00e9 augmente avec l\u2019ajout d&rsquo;une plus grande quantit\u00e9 de tensioactif, entra\u00eenant une diminution de la taille des particules. \u00c0 cette fin, nous avons utilis\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9mulsion EMULTROL EPH et, en variant la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9mulsifiant, nous avons obtenu diff\u00e9rentes tailles de particules.
