En fonction de la composition de la phase continue et de la phase dispers\u00e9e, on peut obtenir des \u00e9mulsions huile-dans-eau ou eau-dans-huile. L\u2019ajout d\u2019un tensioactif est essentiel pour stabiliser toutes les \u00e9mulsions, car il r\u00e9duit la tension interfaciale entre les deux liquides. D&rsquo;autres additifs peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s pour accro\u00eetre cette stabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9mulsions de cire offrent un moyen efficace d\u2019incorporer de la cire dans un produit, puisqu&rsquo;elles s\u2019int\u00e8grent facilement dans les formulations de rev\u00eatements et de peintures \u00e0 base d\u2019eau par simple m\u00e9lange, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur forme liquide. Les cires sont des additifs courants qui influencent consid\u00e9rablement les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de surface de tout rev\u00eatement, en am\u00e9liorant et en prot\u00e9geant son apparence.<\/p>\n<p>En raison de leur structure chimique, les cires conf\u00e8rent une am\u00e9lioration notable de la r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau. Comme son nom l\u2019indique, cette propri\u00e9t\u00e9 prot\u00e8ge une surface contre la p\u00e9n\u00e9tration de l&rsquo;eau, qui peut provoquer des probl\u00e8mes de moisissure (insalubres et peu esth\u00e9tiques) et m\u00eame des dommages structurels irr\u00e9versibles.<\/p>\n<p>Les cires de paraffine offrent souvent une performance excellente, particuli\u00e8rement sur les surfaces poreuses, car elles sont principalement compos\u00e9es de cha\u00eenes d&rsquo;alcane lin\u00e9aires et pr\u00e9sentent une bonne structure cristalline, fournissant ainsi d&rsquo;excellents effets de barri\u00e8re contre l&rsquo;eau.<\/p>\n<p>La gamme d\u2019\u00e9mulsions de cire EMULTROL comprend une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de cires telles que paraffine, poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne, lignite, carnauba, entre autres. Combin\u00e9es avec diff\u00e9rents \u00e9mulsifiants, ces cires couvrent la majorit\u00e9 des besoins de nos clients. Parmi elles, les produits EMULTROL CM-2469 SPL et CM-2655 E se distinguent comme les candidats les plus efficaces pour am\u00e9liorer la r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l\u2019eau des peintures \u00e0 base d&rsquo;eau. L\u2019angle de contact d&rsquo;une goutte d&rsquo;eau est un indicateur cl\u00e9 de la modification de surface, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant si celle-ci a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ue pour remplir des fonctions sp\u00e9cifiques via l&rsquo;ajout de rev\u00eatements.<\/p>\n<p>Une goutte qui reste ronde, avec un angle de contact \u00e9lev\u00e9 (voir Figure 2, gauche), indique une surface hydrophobe ou r\u00e9pulsive \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau. Ensuite, une goutte d&rsquo;eau a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9pos\u00e9e d\u00e9licatement sur cette couche pour observer sa forme.<\/p>\n<p>Pour d\u00e9montrer les avantages de l&rsquo;utilisation des \u00e9mulsions de cire comme additifs dans les peintures, un ajout de 2 % et de 3 % de chaque \u00e9mulsion a \u00e9t\u00e9 fait \u00e0 deux r\u00e9sines commerciales diff\u00e9rentes, l&rsquo;une styr\u00e8ne-acrylique et l&rsquo;autre acrylique, toutes deux utilis\u00e9es dans les peintures et les rev\u00eatements. Les caract\u00e9ristiques de ces r\u00e9sines sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es dans le Tableau 2. Cependant, en utilisant le rev\u00eatement appropri\u00e9, une surface hydrophobe peut \u00eatre obtenue. Dans la Figure 3, nous observons le comportement des gouttes d&rsquo;eau sur le papier rev\u00eatu. Cet effet est plus accentu\u00e9 avec la r\u00e9sine 2 (b), o\u00f9 l\u2019on remarque une forme plus arrondie de la goutte d\u2019eau. Elles sont formul\u00e9es avec des syst\u00e8mes \u00e9mulsifiants diff\u00e9rents qui augmentent la compatibilit\u00e9 avec les r\u00e9sines aqueuses communes. Le principal avantage de ces \u00e9mulsions de cire dans les rev\u00eatements \u00e0 base d&rsquo;eau est l\u2019augmentation de l\u2019hydrophobicit\u00e9 du film.
